KENNEDY STATEMENT ON TRUMPCARE CBO SCORE
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Joe Kennedy III released the following statement in response to the CBO’s estimate that 23 million Americans would lose access to health care under TrumpCare. Additionally, the CBO found that coverage for pre-existing conditions in many states would no longer be guaranteed and the ban on lifetime limits would no longer apply to certain health benefits.
“Beneath the devastating numbers released today lies physical, emotional and undeniable pain for families in every corner of this country. TrumpCare destroys the fundamentally American promise that we care for each other in our time of need and divides the fortunate from the vulnerable. This CBO score only confirms that this cruel repeal bill is nothing more than a tax cut for the wealthy paid for with the health and economic security of hard working families.”
Currently serving his third term, Congressman Kennedy is a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee which shares jurisdiction over health care reform. He has been a vocal opponent of TrumpCare, with a particular focus on mental health care and Medicaid.
