KENNEDY STATEMENT ON CBO SCORE FOR GOP REPEAL PLAN
Newton, MA – After the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) announced that millions would lose coverage under the GOP repeal plan, Congressman Joe Kennedy III called on House Republicans to abandon their proposal. During last week’s House Energy & Commerce mark-up on the legislation, Kennedy referred to the bill as an “act of malice” and forced Republican lawyers to admit that millions would lose access to behavioral health care.
“Our character isn’t reflected in the promises we make, but in the promises we keep. President Trump looked American families in the eye and told them their health care coverage was safe. This CBO report exposes that for the masquerade it is – one of countless works of fiction peddled to this country for years by Republican leadership unable to see the people behind their politics. May every American citizen hold them accountable for their empty words.”
