KENNEDY STATEMENT ON SIT-IN DEMANDING ACTION ON GUN VIOLENCE
Washington, D.C. – After spending the day with his colleagues on the House floor, Congressman Joe Kennedy III released the following statement calling for a vote on legislation to combat gun violence.
“For the countless American families impacted by gun violence, this debate isn’t about politics or headlines or statistics – it’s about someone they love. It’s about a part of their heart that will always be missing. Nothing can erase their loss. But Congress holds in its hand the unique ability to help ensure others are spared similar tragedy. Shame on any among us who choose to stay silent.”
Led by Congressman John Lewis (D-GA), Congresswoman Katherine Clark (D-MA) and others, Democratic representatives staged a sit-in on the floor of the House of Representatives to demand a vote on gun violence legislation.
