Calls on Trump Administration to withdraw dangerous deregulation measures

Washington, D.C. – As the unemployment rate reaches historic heights, Congressman Joe Kennedy III today called on President Donald Trump to immediately revoke deregulation measures that would leave workers vulnerable and deepen health inequities throughout the country. In a letter to the President, Kennedy cited weakened or nonexistent regulations under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as evidence of the Administration’s disregard for workers and prioritization of corporate interests.

“Workers, families and low-income communities are bearing the brunt of COVID-19 and the health consequences and economic devastation it has wrought. Instead of fighting for their protection, this Administration has decided to give corporations cover for violating worker safety and environmental destruction. To be very clear, deregulation is not an economic recovery plan and will only harm the communities who need help most.”
