Congressman Kennedy Applauds Biden-Harris Administration for Protecting Children From Lead

Stronger Requirements Will Help Eliminate Lead Paint Dust From Pre-1978 Homes and Childcare Facilities

Today, Congressman Tim Kennedy (NY-26) released the following statement applauding the Biden-Harris Administration for finalizing stronger requirements for identifying lead paint dust in homes and childcare facilities.

“I applaud the Biden-Harris Administration for protecting our children from lead paint contaminants in homes and childcare facilities,” said Congressman Kennedy. “These contaminants jeopardize the development and wellbeing of young people across our community, state and nation. These new requirements are a part of a larger effort to remove lead from our homes and drinking water, especially benefiting communities in Western New York with elevated lead exposure. Our children’s health should not depend on their zip code.”

The strengthened requirements from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are a part of the Federal Action Plan to Reduce Childhood Lead Exposure and Associated Health Impacts. To learn more about the rule, click here
