Today, Congressman Tim Kennedy (NY-26) is celebrating the third anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law by highlighting investments in Erie and Niagara Counties which now exceed $580,683,000. Rep. Kennedy, who previously served as Chair of the New York State Senate Transportation Committee, helped to deliver the state matching requirements necessary to make the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law-funded projects in Western New York possible. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has made game-changing investments in Western New York,” said Congressman Kennedy. “It is rebuilding our roads, improving public transit, strengthening the safety and capacity of our airports, and connecting more homes to the Internet—all while creating good-paying union jobs. As we celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the infrastructure law, I will continue to fight for funding that strengthens our community and invests in our region.” Highlights of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law investments in Erie and Niagara Counties include more than $37 million for the Buffalo and Niagara Falls Airports and nearly $57 million for school and NFTA buses supporting a transition to cleaner transportation options. Projects of note also include $25 million for reconstruction of middle Main Street in Buffalo, $55 million for the Kensington project through the Reconnecting Communities program, $959,305 for rural bridge improvements in Niagara County, and $4.15 million for Tuscarora and Seneca Nation road and bridge projects. The law has also provided $136 million for waterway and shoreline improvements including projects at Broderick Park, Buffalo Harbor, Scajaquada Creek, Bird Island Pier, Eighteen Mile Creek, the Black Rock Channel, and Tonawanda Harbor. Western New York also benefits from statewide Bipartisan Infrastructure Law investments. Total Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to New York now exceeds $25.65 billion. This includes funding through programs such as Safe Streets and Roads for All, Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds, Hydroelectric Efficiency Improvement Incentives, Railway-Highway Crossing Program, Weatherization Assistance Program, the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), and more. November 15, 2024, marks the third anniversary of President Joe Biden signing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The landmark legislation delivers federal funding for historic investments in roads and bridges, public transit, clean water infrastructure, affordable high-speed internet, airports, energy-efficient home improvements, EV charging infrastructure, and Brownfield and Superfund site cleanup. The law provides $1.5 trillion nationwide over 5 years, with two years of investments remaining. ### |
