Congressman Kennedy Named Regional Whip by Colleagues

Kennedy Will Bring New Voice To Represent The Region

Congressman Tim Kennedy (NY-26) was unanimously elected by his Democratic Caucus colleagues to serve as Regional Whip for Region 11 in the 119th Congress. New York State is the only state to be represented by its own Region.

“I’m honored to be selected by my colleagues to serve as Regional Whip, and look forward to being a strong voice for our region, and our state,” said Congressman Kennedy. “New York State leads the fight on a host of issues, from gun violence prevention to reproductive rights, and I will fight for our values to be on the agenda in the upcoming Congress. I look forward to working with Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar, Rep. Jerry Nadler, and the entire New York Delegation to lower costs for families, create good-paying jobs, and keep our communities safe.”

“Since arriving in the halls of Congress, Rep. Tim Kennedy has quickly proven to be an incredible fighter for working families,” said Democratic Whip Katherine Clark. “I’m thrilled that he will serve the House Democratic Caucus as Regional Whip, helping to lower costs for the American people, grow the middle class, and stand up to extremism in the 119th Congress.”

“In just months, Rep. Tim Kennedy has shown himself to be a leader for New Yorkers across our state,” said Rep. Jerry Nadler, Dean of the New York Delegation. “I am grateful to Rep. Kennedy for stepping up to this leadership role as House Democrats prepare to be a bulwark against President-elect Trump’s dangerous agenda. Now more than ever, Democrats must remain united and show our strength in numbers as we enter the 119th Congress.”
