Congressman Kennedy Demands Trump End Trade War with Canada Ahead of Midnight Deadline

Last Month, Kennedy Led 63 Of His House Colleagues In Opposing Tariffs On Canada, Which Will Serve As A Consumer Tax On Americans

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Tim Kennedy (NY-26) released the following statement as the Trump Administration prepares to impose disastrous tariffs on Canada at midnight tonight:

“It’s been one month since I led 63 of my colleagues, representing tens of millions of Americans, in opposing President Trump’s tariffs on Canada, and the response from the administration has been silence. This consumer tax, set to go into effect at midnight, will decimate our region’s economy, cost jobs, and make life more expensive for hard working families. Canada is our neighbor, largest trading partner, and closest ally. During the pause on implementation, even the mere threat of tariffs has already had a chilling effect on the Western New York economy, slowing investments and creating uncertainty. I continue to demand an immediate end to this trade war with Canada.”
