WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Tim Kennedy (NY-26) released the following statement mourning the loss of his colleague Congressman Sylvester Turner, who represented the 18th Congressional District of Texas: 

“I am extremely saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and colleague, Congressman Sylvester Turner. I deeply admired his unwavering dedication to the city and people he represented – something we should all seek to emulate. It was an honor to be seated next to him last night during the President's Joint Address, where Congressman Turner reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for Medicaid while combating extremism and injustice. He further reminded me of his love for the people of Houston. Katie and I are holding his family and community in our prayers. May he rest in peace."
