Congressman Kennedy Condemns House Republican Funding Bill For Failing Veterans

Today, Congressman Tim Kennedy (NY-26) released the following statement regarding the Republican’s proposed continuing resolution, which fails to provide adequate funding for veterans.

“The Republican continuing resolution shortchanges the VA by $12 billion and fails veterans in Western New York and across the country,” Congressman Kennedy said. “In order to properly staff and maintain the VA hospital in Buffalo, and other hospitals across the country, full funding must be included. We have already reached a critical point as nurses and healthcare practitioners in our community are forced to walk the picket line to fight for resources. This has been made exceptionally clear to my colleagues, yet they refuse to address the issue to help our nation’s heroes when they need it most. The time is now to resolve this injustice.”

Additional Information:

Since the PACT Act, more veterans are getting VA healthcare and disability compensation than ever before. There have been 185,931 new Veterans Health Administration enrollees since the bill was signed into law, making it more critical than ever to pass appropriate funding levels for the VA.
