January 29, 2025
Members from New York & Michigan to Lead Bipartisan US-Canada Working Group Congressmembers Tim Kennedy (D-NY-26) and Bill Huizenga (R-MI-4) will serve as Co-Chairs of the Northern Border Caucus for the 119th Congress. The pair will lead the caucus, which acts as the bipartisan House of Representatives working group on United States-Canada affairs. “The United States and Canada are allies and trading partners, our citizens are neighbors and business associates. Constructive dialogue on opportunities to strengthen this international bond is the foundation for shared success, security, and economic prosperity,” said Congressman Tim Kennedy. “I look forward to partnering with Co-Chair Huizenga and my colleagues to make our communities along the northern border better and more affordable places to work, live, and raise a family.” “The relationship between the United States and Canada deeply impacts communities across our nation, especially those in Michigan and New York,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “I am eager to lead Northern Border Caucus efforts with Co-Chair Kennedy that strengthen our relationship with our Canadian neighbors while improving border integrity, national security, and economic opportunity for Americans.” Congressman Kennedy represents the Western New York district along the shores of Lake Erie and the Niagara River bordering Southern Ontario. Kennedy serves on the House Committees on Homeland Security and Veterans’ Affairs and is also a member of the Great Lakes Task Force. Congressman Huizenga’s Southwest Michigan district borders Lake Michigan. He is Vice-Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and serves as Co-Chair of the Great Lakes Task Force. The border between the United States and Canada includes more than 100 international crossings and stretches over 5,000 miles, representing the largest international land border in the world. ### |
